In 1985, Revs. Kees and Faith Tengnagel graduated from RHEMA Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. By the late Fall of 2001, the Spirit of God had led them to make preparation to pioneer a seventh church in Richmond Hill, Ontario. It was in early 2003 that they knew their time as pastors at this church was coming to an end. Their prayer for God’s pastor for that church was answered in early August. The prayer focus was then concentrated upon their next "assignment." The induction service for the new pastor was February 1, 2004. Yet, direction still had not come. Finally, on February 27th, during a pastors’ prayer meeting in Barrie at the church they had pioneered in 1990, a vision came to Pastor Kees while he was sitting on the altar stairs meditating about what was being prayed. The vision came in the form of four small boxes within one larger box. The first letter of each of the four words within the larger box was in the small box. Only the first word was distinguishable. It was "Niagara." As the Spirit’s leading did not specify whether the vision’s reference was to the City of Niagara Falls or the Region of Niagara, the search for accommodation to hold services began in St. Catharines and then moved to Niagara-On-The-Lake. But it was not until the Tengnagels came to Niagara Falls that they found the favour of God with the Ramada Suites Hotel on Lundy’s Lane. The hotel quickly responded positively to their request for a one year commitment to hold services both Sunday morning and evening, offering a very favourable discount, and allowing the church to store equipment with them at no additional cost. The contract was "inked" in mid-April for the first service to be held May 2, 2004. The week of May 2nd also saw the launch of the Wednesday night Bible study and prayer meeting. During the past five years, N.L.F.C. has seen modest growth. In November 2007 the Church moved to the Quality Inn and Conference Centre on Ferry Street because of the need for larger accommodation. Presently, the search is underway to find its own premises. Once it is obtained, a number of changes will follow to the "Schedule of Events."
In late 2008, the Tengnagels sensed God's call to return to the Church in Barrie, ON which they had pioneered 18 years ago. On January 4, 2009, they conducted the induction service for the new pastors, Revs. Ronald and Anna Smith, themselves both Rhema graduagtes, '92 and '94 respectively.
